I actually read Moby-Dick. I couldn't get away from it in my English lit program. These days, I've read a lot of picture books and early chapter books because I am writing both kids of books.

Excellent transition! There's really nothing terrible about Moby-Dick - it's just dated by its long narrative, expository style. Thus, it feels slow and boring. But tastes change. So good on you for reading what you're writing.

I never read Moby-Dick, though as an English major, I was supposed to. I've been listening to a lot of audio books, but I can't listen when the narrator has a young girl voice; I have diminished hearing in the upper ranges.

Oh, interesting! And a shame! I'm betting you could listen to the audio of Moby Dick in an older male voice. :) Not that you want to. (Sorry, Herman.)

The MAGA folks wouldn't like Moby-Dick; Herman is too "Wouk."

These days, my TBR pile it's so huge that i will put a book down after a few chapters if it isn't grabbing a hold of me. This is something I never would have done in the old days! My current all-time favorite book of any genre is The Eyes and The Impossible by Dave Eggers. Wonderful story and gorgeous illustrations!

Oh, that's so interesting. I couldn't get past page 30 in that book. I think I may try again...but every reader is different! And yes, I hear you on the staggering pile. So many great books, so little time.
