Most of you, my wonderful readers, are here because I’m pretty consistent with discussions about the entire world of writing and publishing for young readers. So first, thank you for being here!
I’m writing something new, and it’s not fiction. It’s a craft book that is the sum total of my 25 years of accumulated “wisdom” on the aforementioned subject, and I’ve titled it Inside the Wonder World. I’m really having fun writing it – surprisingly, as much (or maybe more!) than my newest novel in progress.
What I would like to do is share that book with you in advance, and what better way to do that than right here?
A Two-tiered Approach
I still plan to keep writing on craft and publishing topics up front, for free, for all of you. So you’ll still see a lot of what will go inside my Wonder World.
I’ve resisted the idea of a paywall because I so love writing about craft and sharing my thoughts. But I’m going to give this a try starting in January 2025: in addition to my free posts, once each week or so I’ll put a detailed chapter from the book behind a paywall, to invite comments, questions, suggestions, concerns.
I really want to hear from you in there. I want to know what confuses you. What you need more of. What you wish I’d go into in more depth.
The paywall isn’t just about money; it’s about commitment on both sides. From me, it will keep me pushing on the project, knowing that I’ve asked you for your trust and your dollars. For you, I hope it will become a kind of masterclass without the “class”, instructive and interactive. And if you are in there and participate, you’ll wind up in my acknowledgements.
Stay tuned…and I hope you’ll join me Inside the Wonder World!
My Newest Book For Middle Grade Readers
I’m really thrilled with the wonderful reviews for The Mystery of Mystic Mountain. The latest is upcoming from The Horn Book in January and isn’t final, so I can only share this lovely snippet:
“With themes of family, grief, and loss, Fox has crafted a multifaceted mystery novel with even more to the story than clues and riddles.”
If you have a middle grader in your life, and they love treasure hunt adventures with a dose of history ala Indiana Jones, and you love giving them books, I hope you’ll give Mystery a look.
You can find it here in Bookshop, here for a personalized copy, or if you buy it anywhere else, I’d love to send you a signed bookplate and some swag, which you can get from me by clicking the link below.
(And if you’re looking for an easy free gift for a writer, consider putting up an honest book review on Amazon. It really does help.)
As always, let me know what you think, and Happy Writing!
